Yes it seems strange 2 hours before. I know he says he has had this method for years and it always has worked for him, yet he has never managed a World Cup team before and really the implications of being picked and being left out are massive. Really leaving someone out should require a higher degree of sensitivity if you wish to get your entire squad on your side. Capello should get down off his fence earlier and let his team enjoy the excitement and come to terms with what is about to be their biggest moment in their professional career to date.

Thanks for your opinions Paul. Very interesting.

They are on tour. When you go on tour with your team mates there is always plenty to do. just thinking and training is part of the preparation.

Since this blog was published, they have been in the news with John Terry taking the rap for the discontent which is clearly deeper than Capello is making out. Capello is describing himself as a manager who has "an open door policy", there is a clear undercurrent which is either being overlooked or ignored. Our experience is that the messenger is usually just that, a messenger. There is always someone pulling their strings from behind the scenes. It is funny that he thought he had the support from the whole team and then suddenly they all turned their back on him. Terry is obviously not as popular as he thought he was! they need to focus on the football and play computer games in between like they do when they are back in England!

....boredom! The team are stranded in the middle of nowhere; with nothing but table tennis and T.V. to occupy their free time. Hardly motivational or conducive to a winning mentality, is it??!

I can't get my head around the selection - if it really is as extreme as made out, informing players who on 2hrs before.... how the hell ared you meant to get yourself prepared mentally and psyched up like that, absolutely nuts.
